I feel like I’m starting over. A new place. A new time. A new blog. Why? It is time to go private. (I've thought about doing this for nearly a year now.) I’ve had a public blog for over two years. When I started blogging, the purpose was to document and share our adoption journey. Document for us. Share with others…family and friends, to be specific. When I first discovered adoption blogs…specifically ones related to Korean adoption…I was immediately hooked. These were people who had done what we were doing or were somewhere in the process, like we were. I felt a connection with a group of people who were previously complete strangers to me…who I now call friends. Some I have met in real life, others are friends via blogs, Facebook, email, etc… The friendships and connections that developed through blog-land are incredible. Weathering the ups & downs of the adoption journey was so much easier because of the advice and support we received through my blog.
I’ve continued to blog for the same reasons I started…to document and to share. However, my blog is less and less about our adoption journey…and more and more about being…a family…a regular family. Don’t get me wrong…we are forever a family formed through adoption…and we wouldn’t want it any other way. Our journey as an adoptive family doesn’t end now or at any particular point. I obviously still love to blog…and plan to do so…but feel the need to pull inward just a bit.
I had planned to maybe start my own website…but just don’t feel fully up to that right now…especially this busy time of year. I debated whether or not to stick with Blogger (creating a list of invited users, requiring you to sign in to read/view my blog) or switch to WordPress, where I know I could password protect my posts. I chose the latter. This way I can pick/choose which posts to password protect and which ones to make public. It seemed like the best balance for me…for now.
Of course…this switch hasn’t been exactly easy…learning a new blogging platform. And trust me…I do not have it fully figured out yet. Like…Why the comments from my old blog aren’t showing up on each old blog post yet despite seeing them in the comment menu on my dashboard? Or…How to change/add the categories in the right sidebar? Or…How to password protect my old posts? If anyone knows these things or has suggestions, let me know. But…I will get there…and I hope you’ll stick with me. If I waited until I had all the features completely mastered, I'd never make the switch. Change and challenge are both good things, right?
I’ve had a lot of loyal followers over the 2+ years I’ve been blogging. Your comments and support have been incredible. I hope you’ll continue to follow along. Thank you.

Good luck with the switch, Janet! I have full faith in your technological prowess in making this a success.
I am so grateful you've been public and let me share in your process, but also totally respect your decision to go private. It seems like it's always a work in progress and a balance. I'll email you for a password...
Sounds like the perfect time to change things up a bit. I too am so grateful for the friendships that I've made thru blogging and will always think of you, Janet, as one of my very first bloggy frineds. :) I look forward to following along at your new home....and will email you for the password. :)
Oh, off to check it out now! (And I too will be emailing for the password... I can't imagine life without D updates in it. Especially since I think he's S's best bud whom he just hasn't met yet!)
PS - I totally get where you are coming from as well... I've thought about it as well, but for a variety of reasons want to stay public as long as I can.
