After finishing the back walk and driveway, my DH came to the door and said Little D and I should come join him. Now...this sounds like it should be simple enough, right?! Well...let's just say getting Little D and myself dressed first and then both of us into all our winter gear...took a WHILE. Little D kept trying to run away from me first (naked, of course...why is this sooooo funny?!) and then put up a bit of protest when it came to the mittens...but besides that he tolerated being pushed, pulled, shoved, and coaxed into multiple layers. I should have taken a photo in the house when he fell over and couldn't get up...just like in one of our favorite movies, A Christmas Story...and this was even before we managed to get his boots on him. (BTW...how can you tell when your kid's foot is fully inserted in the boots? We think we did it. Hopefully it wasn't like walking around in high heels (tip-toe) for Little D.)
Once we got outside...all the work was definitely worth it...to see his face when the snow hit it...priceless. Little D was here for the snow last year, but he wasn't too great at walking in many inches of snow...so he didn't probably enjoy it as much as I suspect he will this year.
My DH said Little D had this same look on his face pretty much the entire walk (ride) around the block. After they came back, Little D got to work "helping" shovel the driveway and attempting to walk in the yard. Thick, wet, HEAVY snow made this challenging, but he wasn't going to admit defeat...so he kept going & going & going. Little Energizer Bunny! Guess who was pretty tired after all this outdoor activity? Yep...the same little boy who pitched a total fit when we brought him back in the house. I suspect we'll be outside a LOT this winter. Might as well make the best of it, right? Good thing we live where we do.

I'm amazed at ALL your snow! I have a feeling that will be us by the end of next week... Looks like fun!
I think you need to read the book Thomas' Snowsuit by Robert Munsch - it is too funny!
WOW! I can't believe how much snow you got! Looks like Little D was having a blast!
brrr! i'm too much of a "cold wimp" for all that snow! although it MUST be a lot more fun with a kiddo! maybe i'll enjoy snow once jai is here!!!
Hee hee hee... I am laughing at the getting ready part!! We took pictures of Henry lifelessly laying there as we shoved him into all of his gear. I have no idea about the boots either. I was hoping the fact that he was walking meant that his feet were all the way down at the bottom. We will have to get our snow bunnies together for some sledding this winter!
So fun! Yes, it took forever last year to get jack and anderson in their snow gear. This reminds me, i still need to get jack some snow boots for this year....
It is pretty warm here today, i want it to snow! :) Little D is really cute all bundled up. !!
I LOVE seeing all of the kids bundled up in their multiple layers of winter gear. Dylan looks so happy!
As I put on Jaden's last layer yesterday I heard a big rumble in his diaper. I totally thought of "A Christmas Story" then too -- thankfully it was a false alarm!
Even though I don't like snow, that does look pretty fun :)
And oh my, yes... being a naked toddler is apparently the funnest thing EVER.
i agree with elizabeth -- not the biggest fan of cold, but this *does* look fun!
i was showing this to peter saying, "look at all this snow!" and he (who grew up in wisconsin) said, "yeah, it's november, of course it's snowing." so unfazed. ;)
oh, and yes, like krista said, you need to read "thomas' snowsuit"!
Yay for snow! I have a feeling we won't get much at all this year after our record-setting winter last year!e
That last photo is AWESOME!! So jealous of your snow ... well, sort of. But you are going to have a blast with it this year with Little D!
holy cow! i can't believe you got that much snow already!
we have trouble with c's boots too. if you figure out how to tell they are on all the way, please share!
ps. i never wrote you back about c's head phones - they were noise blocking for shooting practice.
WHOA!!! That is INSANE. I mean, I know it's November... but I'm not mentally ready for that much snow yet. Looks like D is though! I *LOVE* the picture of him in the sled. Pure joy for sure...
And the boots?! I "jump jump jump" Spencer up and down to make sure his feet are in there. (Yes, I have to jump him, he's too stiff) That said, Spencer regularly walks around in my high heels so either way would probably be fine by him!
holy moly!!! snow already?!!!
love that 2nd shot. sooo cute! and i love Little D's hat too. :)
ohh, and i hear ya on the boots. Noah's boots last year were awful. they were so hard to get on and I could never tell if his foot was all the way in! and those puppies weren't cheap either. just got him new ones from lands end. the selling point was they open up super duper wide so easier to get them on and make sure that foot is in. can't wait to test them out in the snow and not just our living room. :)
