Last week, when Little D was so sick...there was a point where he would not let me put him down at all. I also couldn't leave the room. He didn't want me to sit down (or he'd have mini melt-down). He just wanted me to carry him around...and around...and around the house. Well...he weighs a little over 26 pounds...and after a while...my arms just could not do it anymore. Therefore...I decided to bust out the Ergo again.

I knew he would probably still fit fine (it says it can go up to 40 pounds of kiddo, I think)...but I was not sure if he'd tolerate being in there any more. He hasn't been in the Ergo in a good 5+ months now.
I asked him, "Uh-boo-bah??" (Korean for "on-the-back"...it is what Ommas & Appas say to their little ones when they are going to put them in the Podaegi or other baby carrier). He nodded his head, "Yes." I got out the Ergo (after asking my DH where it was). I set Little D down on the couch. I put on the Ergo...backed up to the couch...and he stood up and climbed onto my back. I strapped him in while bending forward (and attempting to hold onto him in case he decided to flip himself backwards...which he did not)...and up we went. I went into the bathroom to peek at him in there on my back. He was smiling...a small, satisfied grin.

I decided to snap a couple of pics...since I'm not sure how much longer he'll be able to ride in there...or how much longer he'll even want to do so. I have to admit...I was very happy that he still fit...and that he wanted to ride on my back again. It felt good to carry him around the house that way. I think it helped him relax. It definitely calmed him down a little bit.
I'm glad my little boy is not too big (in more ways than one)...yet.

I love these pictures. And I love that he still wants to ride on your back.
Those baby carriers sure do come in handy, don't they? We actually used ours with Olive (ahem, 33 pounds) when traipsing around Seoul when we went for Ingrid. Don't know what we would have done without it!
so cute!!!
janet, D looks just like the baby version of our friend, david. i'll show you a picture on fb! :)
Little D looks quite content hanging out in his Ergo. I'm glad it gave your arms a break for a bit! I sooo miss carrying Noah around in his Scootababy. I have fond memories of snuggling with him while doing food shopping, Target shopping, you name it! :)
I love those pictures! We have an Ergo too and it is so great - I still carry Matthew in it occasionally. I'm glad Little D still likes it - I'm sure that helped your arms and back a lot!
That's so sweet! I love those pictures. I wish Joel still liked the Beco. Unfortunately, the last time I had him in it he screamed the whole time and kept trying to wiggle out. Hopefully you can still get some good Ergo time in with D before he really is too big!
I love how content he looks in it! We still use our Ergo and LOVE it!!!! Henry will bring it to me and tell me Uh-boo-bah. He usually hangs out in there while I am making dinner.
We still use our Ergo weekly at 37 lbs and love it.
Although officially it is up to 40 lbs, unofficially Ergo says it is safe up to 60 lbs. Quite frankly, I don't want a 60 lb kid riding on my back, but it's nice to know we have the option. :)
Aww. That's neat that this still comforts him. It's been awhile for us in the ergo too, but this is a good reminder not to send it to Good Will just yet!
adorable. c still loves the ergo - and i'm so glad he does. i hope we are able to use it for a little while longer! i just have to be careful of his head! he leans back so far and now that he is bigger, it's harder to navigate doorways.
awww...little D. Glad it worked out. I tried to put G in his the other day and he threw a fit.
These photos are so sweet! He looks like such a little cuddle bug in there. (you've been carrier free for five months?! i'm impressed!)
i'm glad you worked out a solution!
What about the "backpack" one? I mean yes it's much bigger, perhaps a tad bulkier but if you had to could you use that one too?
and for some reason, Little D looked a whole lot like Baby D!!! It's gotta be the Ergo.
I agree, he looks "littler" in the Ergo - so cute! I have not actually attempted aboobah without help. I know it can be done (you described the process) but I still haven't tried it solo. I love that our babies like to be carried around this way. It's so comforting. I hope Little D is feeling better! I know what it's like when your 26-pound baby won't let you put him down!!
Oh Wow! I forgot that the Ergo goes up to 40lbs. Perhaps I can get away with carring Alex around still... but he might cause me to fall backwards. He is over 30lbs now... yikes!
